The soccer team concluded their season this past Sunday with a 2-1 win over Bethany College.

The team finished their season with a 4-3 conference record, good for fourth place. On Saturday, sophomore captain Maliheh Nakhai scored the game-winning goal and also added an assist, as the team came from a 1-0 deficit. Julie Martinez scored Mills’ first goal.

Overall, the team was 7-8 on the year, the best record in Mills’ soccer history. Freshwoman Claudia Mercado was the team’s leading scorer.

Coach Colette Bowler said that she was very proud of their team. “We played the best soccer ever. The work rate, attitudes, personalities and energy was wonderful. I am looking forward to next year’s team..”

The team graduates only two seniors, Ashley Gilmore and Leslie Sullivan. The team would also like to thank all the faculty and staff that came out last Friday to compete in the Faculty/Staff vs. Soccer Team game.
