Good afternoon my darlings! I hope all is well in the Mills atmosphere and you’re staying well-dressed through all this horrendous stress. Trust me, if you’re looking good, you’re feeling good. This week my fellow Millsies stood tall in their maxi dresses and fluorescent colors.
Who said you can’t wear a skirt when it’s windy out? There is no true fashion without risk.
Annettee Dimperio, a graduating nursing student, put together her own version of a maxi dress with not just one, but two pieces. She paired her pink American Apparel crop top with her gray Brandy Melville maxi skirt. She topped off the look with her white, gold-studded Steve Madden sandals.
I’m such a sucker for crop tops and studs. Dimperio’s look is simple and elegant, with a fresh pop of color.
Sharmi Basu, an Electronic Music graduate student, rocked her eccentric printed A-line dress she got from Target. She added a gold necklace and a few gold rings to complete her look.
The mix of gray with cool colors in the print adds to the asymmetrical cut of the dress.
This is my first time wearing this dress and I’ve had it for at least two years. I purchased it back when I was in high school and it never quite fit me right so I figured since I’ve gained some weight, I’d give it a shot. There is a slip underneath, so it can withstand this slightly windy weather and the soft pink color positively glows in the sunlight! I’m glad I never gave this dress away.
Lesson learned: if it doesn’t look good on you now, it probably will somewhere down the line. Fashion is cyclical. Nothing ever truly goes out of style. It’ll come back. If it doesn’t, then it probably was never a good idea to begin with.
This will be my last post for this fashion column for the semester, but Melodie and I will be back next semester!
I will be working primarily with Commencement fashion sneak peeks so if you want to show me what you’re wearing to Commencement, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’m looking for fancy fits and cute shoes! This is your chance to go out with a bang!
Stay Fierce My Darlings,
