The Mills Cross Country team had a strong showing at the Cal Pac Conference Championships last Friday. The Cyclones placed third behind the powerhouses UC-Santa Cruz and Cal State-Hayward.

Junior Claire Abe again led the way for the Cyclones with her 12th place finish with a time of 22:40 over the 3.1 mile course. A close pack consisting of Sophomore Tyliah Hoa (23:44), Senior Captains Bianca Hovda (23:44) and Dee Montero (23:53), and freshwoman Jasmine Nakagawa (24:00) sealed the 3 point margin over fourth place Holy Names.

Sophomore Beth Culig 24:31), freshwoman Melody Ferris (26:37), and the senior “anchors” Jill Kunishima (28:19), Mehgen Delaney (30:03), and Shari de Costa (33:27) also had strong performances over the challenging course!

The team’s last race of the season will be at the NAIA Region II Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 3pm in Fresno.

The Cyclones will run against the top women in California and in the nation at this qualifying meet for the National Championships.
