Few attend meeting to bridge communication gap between students and M Center
ASMC held a town hall meeting on Monday Apr. 13 to address student issues with the M Center. However, the discussion was poorly attended.
Out of the 25 students who were present, 20 were resident assistants that were required to attend as part of their weekly meeting, three were ASMC officers, and only two were concerned students.

Bay Area gearing up for drought
Despite the rain saturating the Bay Area, state officials are still gearing up for drought conditions, and Mills officials said measures are in place to deal with the dry season ahead.
Architectural Assistant Brian Harrington said that Mills is reducing its outdoor water use.

Second annual Sex Positive Fair exposes taboos
“Which of the following does not protect against sexually transmitted infections?” freshwoman volunteer Dawn Berden asked the group at the sex trivia booth.
“A) Latex condoms, B) polyurethane condoms, or C) lamb skin condoms?”
In unison the group of six yelled out “Lamb Skin!” laughing at their synchronism, as they were handed raffle tickets for answering correctly.

Campanil wins awards at state competition
At the California College Media Association ceremony Feb. 28, Mills College picked up 15 awards.
Coming from Category C (less than weekly newspapers) the Campanil won 10 first place awards, three second place awards and two third place awards.

Career center helps students cope with threat of unemployment
In the current economic downturn, secure jobs are becoming scarcer, affecting the job hunt for both recent Mills graduates and seniors, who are about to begin their careers. Many of these students are now turning to the campus Career Center
for assistance.

Students train in health education
After nearly two months of training, Mills College Peer Health Educators will put their knowledge to the test when they start teaching health education workshops to ninth-graders at Oakland high schools.
Mills is one of four schools participating in Peer Health Exchange (PHE)’s first year in the Bay Area.
