The Cyclone of the Week for Oct. 8 is Kristy Papka of the Mills College soccer team. Kristy, a senior midfielder, adds lightning quickness and a great attitude to the team this year, according to the APER staff. She is not afraid to step into new positions, according to Head Coach Colette Bowler. "Kristy is a joy to have on the team with her attitude and excellent work rate. I wish she wasn't a senior!" said Bowler. Kristy is a senior from Champaign, Ill.

The Cyclone of the Week for Oct. 1 is freshwoman volleyball player Lokemele "Loke" Davis.  Loke is stepping up as team leader and transitioning well into her new position as a setter, according to Head Coach Marla Mundis.  Her positive attitude and enthusiasm enliven every match she plays.  In this week's matches, Loke racked up eight kills, 14 assists, two service aces, five blocks and 11 digs!  Loke hails from Hilo, Hawaii and is an Intermedia Arts major.

The rowers of the Varsity 8 crew are this week’s Cyclones of the Week. The crew — Brittony Girton, Jen Arbios, Vanessa Marlin, Katie Jo Donnell, Zoe Tollefson, Shannon Van Meir, Rachel Gardner, Karuna Kline and coxswain Marie Pence — won their race against Chapman University this past weekend in Newport Beach. Despite being a young crew, with four sophomores and one freshwoman, they raced strongly and solidly, posting a time of 7:33.0, the fastest Varsity 8 time in the last five years.
