Health center runs out of H1N1 flu vaccine
The on-campus Kaiser health center has run out of the H1N1 injectable vaccine, according to an email this morning from Kim Baranek, director of Wellness and Community Outreach.
The vaccine clinic for Thurs. Oct. 29 has also been cancelled, said Baranek.
The H1N1 flu mist is available today, Oct. 27 in a special clinic from 1:30 to 5 p.m. in CPM 114. Students can get a seasonal flu shot or nasal mist from the Health Center at any time.
Healthy persons 24 years old or under who did not receive the seasonal flu mist in the past 28 days, and those under 50 years old who care for an infant less than six months old are eligible for the H1N1 mist.
Pregnant women, those with a weakened immune system or long-term health problem such as asthma, diabetes, or heart, kidney, liver or lung disease should not get the vaccine in mist form. Those who care for someone with a weakened immune system or who are allergic to eggs should also steer clear.
Those who receive the H1N1 nasal mist today should not get the seasonal mist for 28 days.
